A Storied History

The Authority was created in 1985 as an independent agency by the Georgia Legislature, following the purchase of water and sanitary sewer services from the city of Douglasville and Douglas County. As an independent agency, WSA has taken on multiple projects to secure the county’s water supply, and eventually took over stormwater management in 2004. WSA has been an essential part of Douglas County since its creation, and we intend to carry our legacy of responsible, forward-thinking water resources management well into the future.

Protect, Maintain, Enhance

Since 1986, the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority has been working to bring quality water and wastewater services to Douglas County. The Authority focuses on three pillars of water resources management: protect, maintain, and enhance the environment, public health, safety, and welfare of the general public.

With over $500 million in net-fixed assets, WSA currently have the ability to treat 23 million gallons of drinking water and approximately six million gallons of wastewater each day. We are keeping pace with the booming Douglas community, and making plans for future growth.

As Douglas County’s sole water provider, we strive to provide you with the best water, wastewater, and stormwater services, and to make those services easily available to you, with features like online bill pay and easily accessed updates and information about the exciting projects and growth taking place in our community.
