Most of our employees live in Douglas County, and their children go to school here and participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. Likewise, WSA is active in the community. Below are some of the local activities in which we participate.
Business-to-Community Expo - Annually, the Chamber of Commerce holds a Business-to-Community Expo. Approximately 75 local businesses participate in this event which is typically held at the mall in April. Booths line the inside walkways of the mall, and residents and shoppers stop by to receive information and giveaways. WSA's booth is filled with informational brochures and flyers and is always a popular stop among the visitors.
Hydranghea Festival - This festival is presented by Douglas County and the Historical Society of Douglasville. It features all-day entertainment, garden tours, a Moonlight and Magnolia progressive dinner, a flower show, arts and crafts, and other vendors. WSA displays landscape watering tips, the watering restrictions, and water conservation measures.
Keep Douglasville Beautiful and the Master Gardeners - WSA participates with Keep Douglasville Beautiful and local Master Gardeners to bring the residents educational workshops loaded with tips and hints on such topics as drought survival and lawn maintenance.
Rivers Alive Clean-up - Each year, WSA joins forces with a local Boy Scout Troop to clean up trash along the banks of Dog River. The cleanup is a part of a state-wide event sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
Partners in Education - WSA is a Partner in Education with one of the middle schools. As such, we support them with funds and participation in their events.
Truck Career Days - Several of the schools ask us to bring some of our largest trucks to their Truck Career Days where the children can touch and learn about how the trucks operate.
Career Day - Several WSA employees participate each year in Career Day at local schools.
Shadow Day - The Douglas County School System and Partners in Education sponsor Shadow Day. WSA hosts 3-4 students to spend the day here with employees working in a field of interest to the student.
