The Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority’s (WSA) motto is “Award Winning Service for Our Local Community.”
The Authority has, on multiple occasions, received First Place Regional and First Place National awards from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) for the operation and maintenance of its water and wastewater treatment facilities.
On June 9, 2008, WSA was one of only four water utilities in the nation to receive the USEPA Ten-Year Director’s Award for participation in the Partnership for Safe Water Program.
The WSA is perennially recognized by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for having some of the best operated and maintained water and wastewater plants, water and wastewater laboratories, water distribution system and wastewater collection systems in the State. GAWP has on three occasions, recognized WSA for having the best tasting drinking water. In 2006, GAWP recognized the WSA for having the best Phase II Stormwater Program in Georgia.
A number of WSA staff members have received individual awards from GAWP, the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Federation and the Upper Chattahoochee RiverKeeper Organization.
