The Bear Creek Water Treatment Plant was honored to receive the 2016 “Plant of the Year” award from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals. This award is given to the best managed, best operated facilities in the state. The plant inspection process is an arduous task and includes more than 20 pages of criteria to determine the final score of the facility. WSA was competing against four other facilities in their size category: Cherokee County, City of Cartersville, Forsyth County, and Dalton Utilities. In the end, Bear Creek received a total score of 98.22 percent and was awarded “Plant of the Year” in the 15 to 50 MGD (million gallons per day) category. The Bear Creek plant is responsible for providing safe, clean drinking water to the majority of Douglas County residents. Winning this award, along with the pride and care our treatment plant staff display day in and day out, exemplifies the dedication WSA’s staff has to their profession and to the community as a  whole.
