Groundbreaking Ceremony — June 12, 2025

On June 12, WSA hosted a groundbreaking ceremony down at the Dog River Recreational Complex. WSA staff, our board, elected officials, and a host of other special guests joined us to celebrate the beginning of the largest public infrastructure project in Douglas County, aimed at securing the community’s drinking water supply for the next 50 years.

The expansion will raise the reservoir’s water level by 35 feet and increase its storage capacity from 1.9 billion to 6.5 billion gallons. The construction of the project is estimated to cost around $390 million, providing a more robust buffer against increasing droughts and ensuring water reliability for residents and businesses. Among the guest speakers was Shane Lippert of Clark Reeves Young Joint Venture, who serves as our Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) on this project.
