Rates and Fees

WSA customers receive a bill once a month. The information below can be used to help you understand the charges associated with your service.

Fee Information

Each customer is billed for a base fee for water which is determined by the meter size for the location. This fee covers the costs associated with the reading and maintenance of the meters, the maintenance of the water distribution system, and administrative costs.

These fees are determined by the reads taken from the meter. This is the cost of the actual water used by the customer.

If the location is on WSA’s sewer system, a sewer base fee is assessed which is determined by the meter size for the location. This fee covers the costs associated with the maintenance of the sewer collection system.

These fees are determined by the reads taken from the water meter. WSA acknowledges that not all water used is actually returned to the sewer system. Therefore, the usage fee is based on 80% of water used. This is the actual cost to process and treat sewage from the location.

All homes and businesses in Douglas County, even the ones on a well, are charged a stormwater fee. This is a fee charged for the construction, maintenance, and repair of public stormwater infrastructure such as culverts, basins, and ditches.

If you live within the City of Douglasville, your bill will include a charge for garbage pickup. WSA serves as the billing agent and collects payments for the City. Since WSA does not provide the sanitation service, all questions or concerns about your garbage pickup service or the fees should be referred to the City of Douglasville at (770) 920-3005.

For payments received after the due date, WSA charges a 15% penalty for past-due charges.
